Kind Words from Our Moms

“I am the proud, albeit tired, mommy of twin 8-month old girls! When we first came home from the hospital both girls were having difficulty breastfeeding, and as a first time mom, I didn’t know how to help them. Determined to feed them my milk, I was pumping every 3 hours, day and night, and bottle feeding the girls. We paid one visit to Jane and that’s all it took! Now, 8 months
later, both girls are still breastfeeding like champs with no supplements needed! I’m so glad we decided to visit Jane at BSP. She was such an encouragement and told me that I could definitely successfully breastfeed twins!”

“Jane’s help was invaluable for us as we struggled to get our newborn to breastfeed. Due to a loss of blood at birth, my milk supply was low and Grace had trouble latching on. Jane got me started on pumping and after about 8-9 weeks, Grace was nursing exclusively! We couldn’t have done it without Jane’s support, advice, and encouragement. Grace is now 5 1/2 months, 100% breastfed, and approaching 19 lbs! I would recommend Best Start to anyone and everyone and encourage all moms that breastfeeding IS WORTH the time and energy it sometimes requires to get started! Thanks again!!”

Kelly Worthington, Mother of Grace

“A big thank you to Jane and the entire staff at Best Start for the help and encouragement with my breastfeeding experience. I was the first in my family to experience breastfeeding and I’m so glad I did. Without Jane and the staff at Best Start for their constant understanding and encouragement, I don’t know that I would’ve made it past the first few months. Each one of them was so knowledgeable and friendly when speaking on the phone, or when dropping by the store. I never felt turned away and there was never a question that went unanswered. Thanks to all of you for giving me a wonderful breastfeeding experience. Thanks for helping me get Aiden off to a great start in life! I couldn’t have done it without you!”

Jodie Culpepper, Mother of Aiden

“Best Start has been a life saver for me. As a brand new mom I had no clue breastfeeding would be so difficult. After working with Jane and the staff here it is no only natural and easy, but enjoyable. I feel so fortunate to be able to have this experience with my very healthy and happy breastfed daughter!”

“The first night home from the hospital was a nightmare at best! We were up all night. Michael wouldn’t nurse but a few minutes at a time. He cried almost non-stop. And so did I. What was I doing wrong? We were even more exhausted by Saturday Morning. I was engorged and very uncomfortable and still very upset. That is when I decided to call Best Start.  I called and was told to come to the office as soon as I could for a lactation consultation. Through tears of frustration and inadequacy I agreed. That was the best call I have ever made! Jane was patient and understanding and knowledgeable. I cried through most of the consultation, but with her encouragement and teaching, Michael and I are now a successful nursing couple. What a magical scene it is to look at my son and see him nurse and know that I am doing the best that I can for him! I would probably be bottle-feeding today if I had not called on Best Start to help. If there is even the slightest chance you want to breastfeed, I would recommend that you take advantage of a lactation consultation that Best Start offers. The cost is minimal compared to the wealth of information you will receive. Remember you are doing it for your baby and its worth it when you see him grow!”

Amy Baugher, Mother of Michael

“I wanted to thank Best Start for the back to work breastfeeding class that I took. I don’t know what I would of done without that class. When I would think about going back to work and pumping and did not think it was possible but Jane suggested her class and it was a godsend. I went back to work April 4th and here it is almost the first of Aug and I am still pumping. The class had all the information I need to allow me to still give my daughter what I wanted her to have and also be able to work full time. The most important thing I learned is to pump only when needed and at night and on weekends put that pump away and breastfeed as much as you can because that will keep up the process. Thanks Jane for everything. My baby has been so healthy.”

“I am SO grateful I took the breastfeeding class at Best Start! I have been breastfeeding my baby for a month with NO pain! I had tremendous pain with my first child. Learning how to position and latch him on correctly made all the difference.”

“I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for all your help during the first weeks of my son’s life. Jane Bradshaw was so very helpful in answering questions and providing advice on improving our latch-on technique, going well beyond the call of duty. Best Start is a wonderful resource for the local community. Without your help, many mothers would give up breastfeeding during those critical first weeks.”

“Jane helped Gabe and myself learn to breastfeed and she was such an encouragement and an inspiration to me. Gabe had a lot of problems with projectile vomiting and tummy aches and the doctor’s blamed it on colic. Right before we left Jane had me look at a book about doing a total elimination diet. I only wished I had listened to her sooner! Gabe has
since been diagnosed with life threatening food allergies to dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and sunflower. We breastfed until about 15 months and he is now 2 years old and overall a very healthy, happy child. I just wanted to thank Jane again for all her help and support.”

Amy Edwards, Mother of Gabriel

“I went back to work at 10 weeks post-partum and took the BF & W class a few weeks prior. It benefited me by showing me ways to make pumping my milk easier and getting more milk. This class made the transition back to work easier because I had a better idea of what to expect and know my rights in the workplace. I recommend this class to others and still benefit from Best Start’s continuous breastfeeding support!”
